They warned of hail and tornados (again!), but that didn't keep me away from the Big Braddock BBQ on June 5.

As soon as I pulled up, an excited Mary Bell rushed up to meet me, exclaiming "That's my bus! I contributed $20.16!" I am so grateful to Mary (whose son, Rob, is running for Attorney General in Virginia) and all the generous donors who have made it possible for this little ole bus from Kansas City to travel all around the country with the National Federation of Republican Women. Click here if you'd like to join them as a contributor (I have a healthy appetite for fuel).

The Big Braddock BBQ is an annual evented hosted by Fairfax County (VA) Supervisor John Cook. I was honored to be his guest this year, along with former Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie.

It is held at Burke Lake Park - home turf for Linda Bartlett, immediate past President of the Virginia Federation. Was she ever happy to see me!

I got to meet lots of members of the George Mason Republican Women's Club. President Carrie loved telling them about our adventures.

And I made it back without even getting wet!
